Ghostown Records was established in 2020.
My Mother was a big influence on starting to collect vinyl records. She taught me things about records and told me stories about when she was young, helping my grandpa select songs and playing them for 10 pesos at house parties. Their garage was a hang out spot called “El Sangarro” in Tamazula, Jalisco Mexico.
After collecting records throughout the years, a friend of mine and I decided to start the collective, “Ghostown Sound System”.
Spinning Ska, Reggae, Dub, and Rocksteady, we bring events to the community, spinning local events and traveling to different countries to perform. Our main goal is to keep the scene & vinyl culture alive.
Branching out to become Ghostown Records, we had the idea of carrying and selling vinyl with our collective merchandise; putting in the work to make a dream come true of having a music store, selling band t-shirts, vinyl records and CDs. Things were beginning to develop. Digging through swapmeets, thrifties, visiting different states in the US, and traveling to different Countries, we are always in search of records. We are now 4 years in and working hard to finally have a store front.
All for the love of music and keeping Vinyl culture alive.
